Auricular Acupuncture

Auricular (Ear) Acupuncture

Auricular (or ear) acupuncture involves the insertion of very fine needles into specific point on the ear. The ear can be considered as having a map of the human foetus placed upside down, the corresponding positions of limbs and organs can then be placed within the ear.

With this map we can see how it can be possible to treat many conditions affecting many different organs. As with body acupuncture, auricular acupuncture is particularly effective in the treatment of pain but is also widely used for stress, anxiety, depression and insomnia. One of the most effective uses is in the treatment of addictions such as drug or alcohol abuse, weight control (obsessive eating) and smoking.

Auricular acupuncture usually requires no more than 5 points in any treatment and these may differ between sessions depending on progress. Needles are inserted virually painlessly and are left in situ for 20 minutes. After removal a gentle ear massage completes the treatment. Seeds, magnets and electro-acupuncture can be used instead of needles if you are not comfortable with them.
